I did not watch the 5Th day of the test match as I thought the test is heading towards a draw. After the Simmonds multiple survival (he must love Bucknor~Benson) in 1st innings we fought back valiantly. Then there was the Ponting's wicket which the "capable" umpires ensured safe in the second innings.
But I was wrong! The test is in Australia; how can it come to a tame draw when Bucknor&Benson are officiating? Wow they manufactured a "perfect" end to the test. It was a script that only the inspired could have achieved. It seemed that if Australian wickets were worth a million; Indian wickets weren't awarded two-paise!!!
At the best (taking the umpiring errors out of the picture) it was a test India could have won and at the worst a test that would have ended as a draw. But NO it had to better than the best. Australian's crowned their 16Th consecutive victory with an un-sporting manner. As to all people who watched the match - Australia did not deserve to win. And as to most that have watched it, they did not win.
There are many in current Australian team that don't walk when they know they are out; they ground catches but they don't acknowledge it; they appeal for a out decision when they know that the appeal is unjustified. How can one possibly play with such a team?
Now after all this Mr.Malcom Speed says "We can't have one set of rules for the India team and another set for everyone else".
Whatt???? Excuse me!! over the 5 days were India and Australia playing to the same set of rules? New set of rules were created for Australia over those 5 days just have a glimpse :
- If you nick a ball on way to wicket keeper - its NOT OUT.
- If you are stumped out of the crease - its NOT OUT.
- If you ground a catch (don't worry) - its OUT.
- If the ball hits the batters pad way out of the wicket line and wicket keep catches it (no problem mate) - its OUT.
- If you take a wicket with a no ball (huh .. this is easy) - its OUT.
- If you foul-mouth apposition player - you are a Australian Cricketer mate .. that is just fine.
- Your statements are the final and absolute truth - don't worry you just keep playing "hard & fair".
